Bad stewardship
Using a dictionary, I see there are various terms for stewardshio. Is proveeduria a good term? Mayordomería is another term dictionaries use, but I think this has something to do with butlers

"Mayordomía" is only related to the services butlers provide, but "stewardship" is a broader term, right? So I'm not sure, but maybe "administración". (?)

Perhaps administración is the term, but stewardship is beyond management. A steward is like a captain. A good steward is successful at caring management. It's almost maternal or paternal. From what I can see, stewardship has biblical origins, so there is probably a Spanish equivalent.

You'll find mayordomía used in Lucas 16:2 (Reina-Valera), among other places. This is translated as 'stewardship' in the KJV, but it's translated as 'management' in the NIV.
I also found places where mayordomía is translated as 'stewardship' other than in the KJV, but still in a religious context. It seems to extend beyond the services of a butler. The origin of the word mayordomo is Latin, meaning 'mayor o principal de la casa'. That which this person oversees is called la mayordomía. I think the definition given in the RAE, 'cargo y empleo de mayordomo o administrador', defines a charge of administration. That describes the stewardship of the overseer. |

If you want to look at the Greek behind New Testament usage, it's οἰκονομία, which is literally butlership (from οἰκος, house, and νόμος, law), although the meaning had broadened to also cover administration of land... |

That's true, a butler is a steward, but I think that in contemporary English, the meaning has shifted more towards the role of public servant. Do you think that way as well? An example of what I mean is: a world leader exhibits bad stewardship when he or she uses foul language in public and encourages racist behavior.

For me, the word "stewardship" does not fit in that example. I think that the core sense of stewardship is about managing a resource for the benefit of others, so it makes sense to talk of politicians stewarding a country's economy, or Brazil's stewardship of the Amazon rainforest. The only resource I can see that a politician who sets a bad example is mismanaging is public trust in politicians, and somehow that doesn't seem to fall within the bounds of my intuitive notion of the word.

So I guess depending on the context, the expression might become words like: gestión, manejo, dirección, gobierno, uso, utilización, empleo...

I think that's an archaic use of the word mayordomo which these days almost always refers to butlers.
