Question IPhones and iPods

I know this is a weird question, but what's the difference between iPhones and iPods? like the iPod Touch that almost everyone in my classes seem to have. are iPhones used like a cellphone, because during my meeting with Mr. McClelland, my principal asked me to call my mom with his phone, and his phone was really cool, all you had to do was touch the numbers. In one of my classes today one of my friends had an iPod that looked like that phone I used. But it had apps. Is that the difference??

El ipod no es un teléfono, mientras el iphone es, pero lleva una contrata grande (más o menos $100 por mes) entonces muchas personas compran el ipod

I love my ipod. I use it to listen to English and American radio programmes and as I have a cable to connect it to the telly I can also use it as a teaching tool.
