By the way, have you tried the free "on line" speech syntheser software called Paul E Glott? Just Google it. You will be amazed.

Occitan is a different language. Catalan is spoken in parts of France, Spain, Andorra, and Italy; in Spain there are three main branches (Eastern Catalan, spoken in Barcelona; Western Catalan, spoken in western Catalunya and the Comunidad Valenciana (where it's called valenciano / valencià and you can offend some people by calling it català) and Mallorquín, spoken in the Balearic Islands). Then there are sub-dialects; e.g. Alacant, in the Comunidad Valenciana, has distinctive grammatical variations.

Brutus, t'ensenyo unes quantes coses per a quan vagis a Barcelona (I'm sure you're able to understand me )

Hola - adéu
Bon dia -bona tarda - bona nit

No sé si me explico bien

I would think gens means gente.--generations-families etc., but that's a
guess.

Gente = gent.
Nada = gens, res, cap.
Gen / genes = gene / genes (creo)
