Buque de insignia
flagship?
In English a flagship store is the main store. Is that what buque de insignia means?

"Buque insignia" is a good equivalent for "flagship", talking in naval terms.
For a "flagship store", that doesn't work. "Tienda bandera" could be an option, but not much used... maybe something like "el establecimiento bandera"... (there must be some other, probably better, but it's not coming to my mind right now...)

For Flagship store you can use "casa matriz"

Yes , Poli :
In naval terms it is correct , but not if talking about shops In that case , you may say "Tienda central" or simply "central". Other shops depending on a "flagship store" , may be called "delegacion" , "sucursal" or "división". In this last case , you may be talking about a business that covers several different kinds of ware. |

Yes, I heard "casa matriz", but it sounds a bit dated to me.
"La central de Galerías Preciados..." or some such, as powerchisper says, is probably what I've heard more often... short of "la casa madre" de las carmelitas descalzas... but that's another subject.

@Pablo: What do you mean dated?! "Casa matriz" is quite contemporary in Mexico.

Yup, probably I am getting old... As a matter of fact "casa matriz" is used widely as the "main entity" for a company...
It sounds dated to me, when used for a main store... but as I say, that may just be my personal perception...
