Thomas Jefferson los tenía en su jardin por decoración ( por lo menos se dice)La verdad es que lo potates y tomates tienen veneno. Las hojas no se puede comer. Son primos de belladonna. Hay pocos insectos que atrieven atacar la mata de tomate.

No sabía yo que los tomates fueran de la misma familia que la belladona. Siempre se puede aprender algo más.

la historia que tu cuentas, de los guardias, se le atribuye a Antoine Parmentier para introducirla en Francia. En España no tuvo problemas para consumirse, aunque al principio sólo por los necesitados.

"En Francia, Antoine-Auguste Parmentier, filósofo francés del siglo XVIII (y al que se le atribuye el invento de las las patatas fritas) intentó convencer a sus paisanos de que la patata no era venenosa.

Sin embargo, Parmentier logró interesar al rey, y fue Luis XVI quien finalmente "engañó" a los campesinos para que cultivasen el nuevo tubérculo.

Hizo que se sembrase un campo de patatas en las mismas afueras de París, y puso una guardia de soldados alrededor de este campo real. Los campesinos se acercaron a curiosear, y se preguntaban cuál sería ese cultivo tan valioso que aconsejaba todas estas medidas de seguridad. I definitely wouldn't talk to your boyfriend about it yet. This might make things even more awkward between him and your friend (which is the opposite of what you want), and furthermore, will probably hurt his feelings. Talk to your friend about this first. If she's really your friend, she'll be happy that you're happy, as long as you still make time for her.
