Están jugando al Gran Bonete

I was looking for a match in English to the same situation.

There's a children game called "El Gran Bonete" that goes this way: a round of children each one identified by a colour and in the centre "el Gran Bonete"

Gran Bonete - "Al Gran Bonete se le ha perdido un pajarito y dicen que el rojo lo tiene" (pointing to "red" or any other player)
Rojo - ¿Yo, señor?
Gran Bonete - Sí, señor.
Rojo - ¡No, señor!
Gran Bonete - ¿Pues entonces quién lo tiene?
Rojo - ¡El verde!

and it goes on. Any time a player replies to the wrong colour a fault is counted. Three faults and a penalty/challenge is awarded.

Is there something equivalent in the Anglosphere.

We use to say "están jugando al gran bonete" when you go office after office and every employee is blaming another employee or saying it's other person's responsability.

En EEUU el juego es, Who stole the cookies for the cookie jar. Si recuerdo correctamente
el juego viene con in canto rítmico. Las chicas lo jugaron. No recuerdo un muchacho jugándolo.
No sé si aún lo juega.

A variation that my father occasionally used while leading church youth groups (he's a retired minister) I know as "Who, sir? Me, sir?".

One person is moderator, while the players sit in a single row of chairs side by side. The seats are numbered consecutively starting from one end as number 1 (the "head" of the line) and incrementing by one to the last chair (the "foot" of the line).

The moderator starts by choosing an arbitrary number and saying:
"Number X, move to the foot of the line."

The person sitting in seat X must interrupt the moderator and initiate a short conversation with the moderator, which goes like this:

Person X: Who, sir? Me, sir?
Moderator: Yes, sir, you, sir.
Person X: No, sir, not I, sir!
Moderator: Who then, sir?
Person X: Number Y!
Moderator: Number Y, move to the foot of the line.

Now the person sitting in seat Y must interrupt the moderator to initiate the same conversation.

If the person in seat X fails to interrupt by saying "Who, sir? Me, sir?" before the moderator finishes saying "Number X, move to the foot of the line", person X pays the penalty: they move to the highest-numbered seat, and everyone else between seat X and the highest-numbered seat moves to the next-lower seat. The goal is to move up to seat #1 and retain the seat for as long as possible, or until the time set for the game has run out.

Thank you both! I will try to reply along these line in another forum. There's a poster who is playing whack-a-mole with his failed argument.

We wouldn't use who stole the cookie from the cookie jar in the case of office politics when one puts the blame on another, and that person puts the blame on someone else. In this case you would use a term from poker. It's pass the buck. I think who stole the cookie from the cookie jar is fairly obscure.

Thank you, I'll take note of that for a different situation.

I was having a ping-pong match in a forum thread with an evasive user named The Big Dog, so he was "jugando al Gran Bonete" with everyone. I posted this below the quote of one of his evasive messages

Quote:
-The Big Dog, provide your citations properly!
-Who, sir? Me, sir?
-Yes, sir. You, sir.
-No, sir, not I, sir!
-Who then sir?
-That Chihuahua over there!
