Friends, I'm sorry this is long, maybe too long - first time to use this Forum - but if possible please review my translation into Spanish of the following announcement from a nonprofit organization where I volunteer. It needs to be understood mainly by immigrants from Mexico. Thank you for any suggestions!
Right off the bat, I wasn't sure about the word "Serving Since...," whether it should be rendered as infinitive or gerund. Thanks again!




Serving Since 1973

(…………………..) serves residents who are experiencing a financial crisis. We may be able to help in one of several ways. The financial crisis may include job loss, decrease in income, unexpected repairs on home or car, medical issues etc. To better serve the community we are requiring each client to bring a photo ID and proof of financial crisis which would include information required below if you are needing utility, heating oil, or rent assistance:
1) job loss notice
2) pay stubs showing decrease in hours
3) receipts of recent unexpected costs
4) medical payments, etc.
5) proof of household income for all members in the household
6) proof of monthly expenses.

If you are requesting utility assistance, please bring:
· Disconnect notice from utility company – please come in at least 7 days before power is to be disconnected
If you are requesting assistance with heating oil, propane or kerosene, please bring:
· Name of company from which you receive your heating fuel
· Know for sure the kind of heating fuel you use (oil or kerosene)
If you are requesting rent assistance due to eviction notice, please bring:

• Eviction notice from your landlord (must be for prior month’s rent)
• Proof of household income (for past 90 days, for all members employed)

NOTE: WHILE OUR DOORS NORMALLY CLOSE AT 4pm, WE DO RESERVE THE RIGHT TO CLOSE EARLY IN ORDER TO ASSIST CLIENTS WHO ARE ALREADY HERE. IF YOU ARRIVE AFTER 3:30pm YOU MAY BE ASKED TO RETURN THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY IN ORDER TO COMPLETE ALL SERVICES. AT THAT TIME, IF YOU ARE NEEDING HELP WITH RENT, HEAT OR UTILITY BILLS YOU MAY MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY IF YOU SO DESIRE.

La crisis financiera puede que sea causada por una pérdida de trabajo, disminución de ingresos, reparaciones imprevistas de la casa o del carro, problemas médicos y más. Para servir mejor a la comunidad requerimos que cada cliente traiga identificación con foto, y deje constancia de la crisis financiera. Tal prueba debe incluir los siguientes datos si usted necesita asistencia para pagar la cuenta de utilidades, la calefacción por petróleo, o la renta:
1) notificación de la pérdida del trabajo
2) nóminas de sueldo, que muestran la disminución de las horas
3) recibos de recientes costos inesperados
4) pagos médicos, etcétera
5) prueba de ingresos familiares, para todo miembro del hogar
6) prueba de gastos mensuales.

Si usted solicita asistencia con los gastos de utilidades, favor de entregarnos:
· El aviso de desconectar, emitido por la empresa de servicio público – favor de traerlo no más de 7 días antes de la fecha en que se la desconecte
Si usted solicita asistencia con la calefacción por petróleo, propano o queroseno:
· El nombre de la empresa que le provee el combustible
· Asegúrese que usted sepa bien cuál es la clase de combustible que usa, ya sea petróleo o queroseno
Si usted solicita asistencia para pagar la renta, de haber recibido una orden de desalojo:

• La orden de desalojo, emitido por el dueño (debe ser por la renta del previo mes)
• Prueba de ingresos familiares (durante los últimos 90 días, para todos los miembros que están empleados)

IMPORTANTE: AUNQUE NORMALMENTE SE CIERRAN LAS PUERTAS A LAS 4pm, NOS RESERVAMOS EL DERECHO A CERRARLAS TEMPRANO PARA SEGUIR ATENDIENDO A LOS CLIENTES QUE YA ESTÁN ADENTRO. SI USTED LLEGA DESPUÉS DE LAS 3:30pm PODEMOS PEDIRLE QUE REGRESE AL PRÓXIMO DÍA LABORABLE, PARA QUE COMPLETEMOS TODOS LOS SERVICIOS. I think the text can be easily understood. Here you are some suggestions, but mind my Spanish is not Mexican.

"Sirviendo" has no accent. I would use "ayudando". "Servir", to me, sounds as if you were a slave, although it could be appropiate in a religious organization.

I wouldn't use "cliente" for a nonprofit organization unless they had to pay. Suggestions: "cada persona", "cada solicitante", ??

"Requerimos" sounds to me as if you were giving orders. "Necesitamos" would be better.

si usted necesita asistencia para pagar la cuenta de utilidades

I've never heard "la cuenta de utilidades". I suppose it includes the electricity and water bills. If so, "...para pagar la factura de la electricidad y el agua".

Here we don't use "favor de". I know Mexicans do, and think your sentences are OK.

· El aviso de desconectar desconexión, emitido por la empresa de servicio público – favor de traerlo no más de 7 días antes de la fecha en que se la desconecte al menos 7 días antes de la fecha de desconexión

I agree with almost everything Don José suggested, but if you care for what would sound more familiar to a Mexican (and if it's not too late)...

It's not an order, but states what is required from each person.) que cada cliente (I agree that "cliente" in Spanish is only someone who buys your services. Don José's suggestion about "solicitante" would be great.) traiga una identificación con foto, y deje una constancia ("dejar constancia" doesn't necessarily mean to bring a document, but only to prove something. "Traer una constancia" means to bring the document.) de la crisis financiera. Tal prueba Ésta (Not wrong, but "ésta" would be enough.) debe incluir los siguientes datos, si usted necesita asistencia para pagar las cuentas de utilidades servicios (if what you mean is water, gas, electric power...), la calefacción por petróleo de combustible, o la renta:
1) notificación de la pérdida del trabajo
2) nóminas de sueldo, que muestren la disminución de las horas
3) recibos de recientes costos gastos inesperados
4) pagos médicos, etcétera ("etcétera" is used at the end of a list, but only one item is not considered a list. Without "etcétera" it will still be understood it includes several kinds of medical payments.)

· El aviso de desconectar suspensión/corte (If you say "aviso de desconectar", it means you're telling the people they should disconnect. "Desconexión" might be alright, but at least in Mexico, it sounds weird) , (no comma here) emitido por la empresa de servicios públicos (which is a general idea of any provider of public services, but you could also say "empresa del servicio público", which would be understood as the one who has disconnected the service.)– favor de traerlo no más de 7 días antes de la fecha en que se la desconecte (only for reasons of style: el aviso debe entregarse al menos 7 días antes del corte / de la suspensión.)
Si usted solicita asistencia con la calefacción por ("de"/"con" would sound better to me) petróleo, propano o queroseno:
· El nombre de la empresa que le provee el combustible
· Asegúrese que usted sepa bien (not wrong, but the sentence is too heavy and long like that. You can say "Asegúrese de saber") cuál es la clase de combustible que usa, ya sea petróleo o queroseno
Si usted solicita asistencia para pagar la renta, de por haber recibido una orden de desalojo:

• La orden de desalojo, emitida por el dueño (debe ser por la renta del previo mes ("del mes anterior" may be a give a more immediate idea)
• Prueba de ingresos familiares (durante los últimos 90 días, para de todos los miembros que están empleados)

IMPORTANTE: AUNQUE NORMALMENTE SE CIERRAN LAS PUERTAS A LAS 4PM (If you're using all caps, then it's ALL CAPS) , NOS RESERVAMOS EL DERECHO A DE CERRARLAS ANTES TEMPRANO (Or "más temprano", as Don José suggested) PARA SEGUIR ATENDIENDO ATENDER A LOS CLIENTES (It's been mentioned above) QUE YA ESTÁN ADENTRO. SI USTED LLEGA DESPUÉS DE LAS 3:30PM PODEMOS PEDIRLE QUE REGRESE AL PRÓXIMO DÍA LABORABLE, PARA QUE COMPLETEMOS TODOS LOS SERVICIOS.
