Huero? Is there such a word?

I have worked with a Spanish speaking population most of my life and have always thought the word "huero/a" was slang and meant a light-skinned person, though the dictionary definition is "addled". Am I addled or is the word used as I have always thought? Thanks for any response.

The way Mexicans (and a few others) say the word güero is all you've misunderstood.

Ah! I have a lousy ear. Thank you all for the rapid and informative responses. I brewed a Mexican Pilsener beer for my brother and I want to put labels on them "Guero's Choice" as he is fair skinned and I found an old picture of him with a Pancho Villa moustache I'm going to use in the background.

Sounds interesting, hope the beer tastes as good as it sounds.

Actually, the Yucatan (NOT Cancun) would be nice. Merida is where I got the idea to attempt a clone of their local brew, Motejo Pilsner.

Huero is sometimes used in Spain instead of hueco, especially when referring to a concept or to a person.
  • Qué persona más huera / qué persona más vacía.
  • No hizo más que decir cosas hueras / no dijo nada importante.

By the way, huero is a word. It's an adjective meaning empty, vacuous or hollow. Your dictionary lists addled as a possible meaning. To me, this would be in the sense that it means unused. An addled, or unused mind can be described as being an empty one.

In German that's called an umlaut. What is it in Spanish? At any rate my keyboard doesn't have that capacity-any suggestions?
