Keeping threads on-topic

A respectful request to forum participants

Threads can easily get to be many pages long, and valuable information can become buried among so many posts. We can keep threads more useful by keeping our posts on the same topic as the first post in the thread. If you have an unrelated question, or a related, but different question, I would like to request that you go ahead and start a new thread with that question.

Benefits:
  • Shorter, more manageable threads
  • Information can be found easier by others, since each thread is specifically about one topic.
If you have any questions or comments about this, go ahead and ask below. Thanks!

Estoy de acuerdo. I agree.

I've noticed that some folks don't know how to create a new thread. Maybe the buttons need enlarged or moved so they can be found more easily, if possible.

That's a great idea Rusty, and you'll see I've acted on it.

It will be hard... sometime this takes the manner of a fluent dialogue... I think it would be a great idea to get charla libre forum apart from those threads where people use to look for information. And, of course, like someone suggested before, to export conclusions from one forum to another. What do you think?

I agree that we have to be organized, but I will miss the digressions. They are part of the fun and as Alfonso says they keep the dialogue fluid. I like the chat idea. Why don't we try that? BTW. (a different topic) I told a friend to join us, but after looking through the forums she told me we are a bunch of freaks...

Be careful of run-ons.

Poli
Favor de corregirme. Gracias.

Thanks a lot for your corrections, Poli!
I guess what you've written between brackets are different options to what I wrote before, but it doesn't mean it's incorrect. Am I right?
What are run-ons?

Alfonso,
The brackets are corrections not different options with the exception of sometimes and at times (at times is a better choice. Both are OK. Sometime, though, would be wrong . If you have questions about the corrections, ask. Some of the corrections are fine points that trip up people learning English. You always catch mine when I write Spanish. I appreciate it. They are hard to learn.
A run-on is a false sentence lacking subject and predicate.

Mmmmm... If you mix up corrections with options I will get confused.
It's not only sometime / at times.
Anyway, you substituted suggested by mentioned. Is mine a stylistic option or a grammar mistake?
