The label DELL, I feel that is better, it has better service in parts, pieces, is not very expensive.

I built my computer as well - and I just upgraded it with 1TB of space the other day, so now it should be able to last another two years, at least when it comes to space.

I run Linux.

What distro? I've been a happy Ubuntu user for over a year now.

The same for me. I'm also using Ubuntu.
On my other two computers I am running Debian, and I'm actually planning to remove Ubuntu on this one, in favor for another distrobution. I'm not sure for which one, but I have considered Fedora. Or maybe, a fresh, bare-bone installation of Ubuntu would be fine too. I just think that the normal, full-version of Ubuntu is too heavy and includes all kind of non-necessary stuff.

Yes, that's true, and that's because it's partially aimed at users who don't have experience with Linux, so they try to be overly helpful.
