In my estimation, and from what I have heard used in Mexico, la laptop is the most common usage. I have also heard el laptop. I guess it depends on how the speaker thinks about it. If (in Spanish) laptop is thought of as a separate new entity, it would be el laptop, but if they are thinking of it as la computadora laptop, where laptop is an adjective, then it would be la laptop.

Crotalito, ¿Tu dirías "el laptop" o "la laptop"? ¿Cuál te suena más natural?

Ok, David, I used the this La laptop, because the phrase El laptop sound very bad, and above the word Jessica said in her previous post about the La/El dentista, it's used depending of the gender, for example you can't to say El dentista when the person is female instead of El dentista this last phrase is a accurate because, the person is male, then in the weir of the word Laptop, I think what the word Laptop would be better heard as La laptop instead of El laptop, and I think to never mind as you can to say that only you must to think in the best chose to say the word.

It sounds wrong to a Mexican. They prefer la laptop.

Yes, never mind as you want to say La laptop or El laptop, the problem is that the word or phrase El laptop sound very bad
