Pelo corto/bajito

I always assumed that short hair was pelo corto in Spanish, but at a barber shop I heard someone asking for pelo bajito. Are the terms interchangeable, or is pelo bajito preferred?

I've never heard it used like that, but "pelo bajito" seems to be used as a pefect synonym of "pelo corto/cortito". Everyone I know would just say "pelo/cabello corto", or "cortito" when you mean almost shaved.
