Arrancar

SAO PAULO, Brasil
-Rubens
Barrichello arrancó con el
pie derecho en su empeño
por evitar que su compañero
de equipo Jenson Button
se proclame campeón del
mundial de Fórmula Uno,
al superarle el viernes
en los ensayos del Gran
Premio de Brasil.

I am having trouble with this section, can anyone help?

Hola amigo,

Rubens está diciendo , Start with the right foot... (get off on the right foot / note) (have a great start to the race) (hope for no rain in Sao Paulo)

Arrancar = empezar (como mi amiga Irma dijo.)

Y buen suerte en Brasil Rubens

Thanks, this is really interesting. The Romans thought that the right foot was good, and the left foot was bad (or lucky and unlucky). Hence the Latin for 'left', sinister, meant something bad. So then Spanish used the word izquierdo to mean the direction 'left' (probably from Basque).

When soldiers are marching, someone is often shouting "left...left..left.right.left..." When leaving home to fight an enemy, a soldier would always start with his left foot first, a sign of ill-will towards the enemy.
