Teaching Spanish

As I haven't been around that often lately I'm not sure if I've told you I'm teaching Spanish on Saturdays now. I just wanted to tell you how difficult I'm finding it.
To start with, I've realized I don't speak naturally during the classes as I'm used to teaching English, secondly I lack the enthusiasm I feel when teaching EFL and besides I know how to say things but I don't know the why in most cases.
Having said all the above, I have to confess it's quite a challenge... if only I could be up to it. Most days I am left with a feeling I'm not doing it well... I can only get better, though.
Do you have any tips for me?

Look at Spanish through the eyes of your students. They have before them a great mystery. You can unravel its secrets and instill a love for the language as you share your cultural and literary heritage.

Your advice is beautifully worded as usual... problem is my cultural and literary heritage is all in English. I used to love Spanish Lit, but I have been out of touch for so long that it feels foreign to me now...
BTW, I'm starting a course on Anglo-Saxon Literature on Jan 28th

Try to find conexions within the words/usages and english/medieval/latin/greek times.
