You can say: I feel like I'm being punished/grounded today because I can't leave my job.
Exactly in the definition of the word, I'm working overtime and I'm feeling this like a punishment, because I can't see to my family during all the day all the days.

That is a jail for me and it seems a punishment.

I think you mean compassion (sympathy).

Compression means reduction in size or space. Comes from the word compress, which means to press together thereby reducing the size of the object and the space it occupies. There are several uses for this word.

I think he wanted to say "understanding". In Spanish: "Gracias por vuestra/su comprensión".

Good joke, by the way.

Thanks for clarifying. I know you're right because although compassion can be expressed to someone who is going through hard times or having a difficult time in English culture, it may not be the same in Spanish speaking countries. Maybe in Spanish culture, compassion (sympathy) is only expressed to people who are in mourning; sick or whose loved ones are sick or have had bad luck/misfortunes, is this right?

"Comprensión" is very close in spelling and sound to "compression". I learned something, thanks to you and Crotalito

By the way, which joke, the one on this thread or the other one?

Crotalito's answer, "Thanks for the compression", made me laugh. He is a computer technician.

Hello, Crotalito (zip, rar? ).

Hello, Crotalito (zip, rar? ).
We learned more by making few innocent errors, besides its priceless to make someone smile or laugh (friendly laughter is good).

Yes your answer about my commentary is acceptable.

I consider your learning is empiric form, therefore I can tell you that I learnt English of the same way.

Although my English isn't enough good as I'd like to was it.
I'm not be conformist with my English or my English level nowadays, but I have achieved much alone these last three year.

Sincerely yours.
