When is 'lo' used in Spanish?
Can 'lo' (it) be used when the sentence involves an action being done to a non-living object or an action being done to a living object? With what verbs can 'lo' be used?
For instance, can I say: "Ella pregunta dónde está la Giralda." = "Ella lo pregunta." "Ellos invitan a Maria a tomar un copa." = "Ellos lo invitan/" ? |

First one is right; second one must agree with gender and number.
·Ellos invitan a María. -> La invitan ·Juan ayuda a sus hermanas. -> Las ayuda. ·Llamé a mis amigos. -> Los llamé. ·El cartero trajo el paquete. -> Lo trajo. There is no neuter gender in Spanish, so when you're expressing an idea with no gender, there is need for a masculine, like in the case of "lo pregunta". ·Está pasando algo, pero no sé qué es. -> No sé lo que pasa. ·Ya habíamos dicho que es martes. -> Lo habíamos dicho antes. ·Te advertí que te asustarías. -> Te lo advertí.
