I use "mando a distancia" for the TV.
For me "control remoto" is a remote control but for military or industry.

In US English, we use "remote" or "remote control". In Mexican Spanish "el control" or "el control remoto" are used. I had never heard mando used for this before today. Thanks!

What would you call the remote for a remote-controlled car?

Control remoto.
