Examen de detenciones

Hi everyone. I'm struggling with a translation from Spanish to English, and wonder if any of you can help me with ''examen de detenciones'' in the following context. Also, I'll appreciate if you can check out my translation.
Thanks very much for your help.
Cheers.

Olazábal nos presenta en un examen de detenciones los diferentes momentos de los avatares del ser humano en un contexto libre de puntuales referencias, enfoques conceptuales de una impactante belleza en trazos de variados cromos con preferencia del rasgo negro, complementados con la visión material de hilos y fibras -en ocasiones-, que le otorgan un diferente toque de distinción a tan especial composición.

Here's my attempt:

Olazábal presents us with ‘examen de detenciones’ the different moments of human beings’ avatars in a context free of detailed references, conceptual approaches of striking beauty in strokes of various chromes with black tones, supplemented with the material vision of thread and fibers, on occasion that give a different touch of class to a very special composition.

Hi Poli. Thanks for your reply. What about the rest of the text? Does it sound good to your ears?

Carnage is a very strong word because it means ''matanza'' or ''carnicería''. I think the author here refers to ''human vicissitudes. What do you think about it?

Sin contexto, yo diría que en principio la elección de palabras es más bien incoherente, pero tal vez se refiera a cada pintura como una "detención", una pausa en el examen que presenta Olazábal en la colección. (?)

Yo diría "detailed review", si es el caso.

Gracias por tu respuesta. Estaba pensando utilizar:

Through a detailed analysis Olazábal presents us with the different moments of human vicissitudes...

I wasn't sure of the context either, but I very much prefer the word folly. as in human folly, over vicissitudes.
Olazábel examine human folly beautifully with unique conceptual focus. Thought use of different media he manages to give a touch of distinction to the human condition.

This is not a complete translation. I don't know who Olázabel is; nor do I know his work. but perhaps I got the gist of the statement.

@Poli: The problem with "folly" is that you give the word a charge of meaning that is not present in the word "avatar" in Spanish. Here it's just a transformation, and it's up to the public to judge whether those changes are good or bad.

@Cubanboy: ¿"Examination" en vez de "analysis"? En mi opinión, "analysis" implica más que un cuestionamiento.
