Marcar hitos

"A los 21 años, el DJ y productor holandés Martin Garrix ya ha sentado precedentes y marcado hitos en todos los rincones de la industria de la música."

Does ‘ha sentado precedentes’ mean the same as ‘ha marcado hitos’ here?
i.e. He has set the precedent.

Yes. I think you may also say "has set milestones".
