Depende en lo que venden. Si tocan puertas son : door to door salesmen
Si tienen un vagón y venden productos en la calle son (por lo menos en Nueva York): street peddlars o venders. Son street venders si venden comida en la calle.

I learned a related word in Mexico-- "ambulantaje", for which I guess the best word in English would be "vending". Do you use ambulantaje en Spain?

Ambulantaje is not used in Spain. It would be venta ambulante. e.g ¿Qué hace Ramón.
Se dedica a la venta ambulante.
You often see signs in towns which say "Prohibido Venta Ambulante".
