Maybe press is not the best choice to practise translation because English and Spanish have their own ways to shorten headlines and different layouts to present information, and of course the ways of one languages doesn't translate automatically in the ways of the other one.
Just a few instances ... ... about editorial style: dark feathers reveal secret to healthy birds maybe I have a problem with my English but I don't think it says there "las plumas oscuras revelan el secreto de los pájaros sanos". ... about language: to be better able to = tener mejor capacidad para "gerund" is not "gerundio": En un escrito para la Revista de Biología Aviaria, los investigadores revelaron... ...la razón por la que ... ... a diversos ambientes ... if you say "a los ambientes diversos" it looks like a) you have in mind a few specific environments b) being "different" is a quality those enviroment have in common and also a quality that let them to be set appart from other environments.

You're welcome!
esconder = 3) Including or having intrinsic qualities and properties that are not evident to most people (This is not hide, or conceal or lurk. I don't know if there is a specific word in English). "Esconder" is not a verb that implies automatically volition and intention as it is "revelar", so feathers "esconden" and scientist "revelan" -or intelligent birds-. About 'journalistiquese', in English they tend to avoid verbs -just some gerunds and past participles: "45 KILLED IN AIR DISASTER"- and in Spanish they prefer to avoid verbs or use present tense ("Mueren 45 personas en un accidente aéreo") or use a special variety of conditional for unconfirmed information or information that is speculative or protected by free rights ("Estaría contaminado el mar en Japón", or "Anunciarían un aumento de impuestos"). Most of all, that tendency of English language to tell first what plenty of details and tell later who must be avoided in Spanish.

[Journal style ----> Spanish: Who did what, reported; English: What was done by whom, transcribed] One thing of English I find difficult to do is changing the way I layout sentences and paragraphs. I suppose the same is true the other way around.
