Estar and Ser on Location.

I thought I saw this somewhere else, but I can't find my notes.

El colegio está dentro de Reno. Is the location of a building.
La clase es dentro de Colegio. Is the location of an event.

But I got an error message on one of language checkers I use.

In both of your examples you would use "está".

El colegio está en Reno.

La clase está en el colegio. (Maybe, "El aula está en el colegio" o "El salón de curso está en el colegio".

"El concierto es en el estadio". The concert is [happening] at the stadium.

Normally you have football or soccer games at the stadium, but "The Boss is playing at the stadium", so you would say "El concierto de Bruce S. es [se llevará a cabo] en el estadio".

Does that help?

"La clase es dentro del colegio" is correct, as long as you take it as the lesson being held there, not the classroom.

- La exposición es en la galería. -> You'd say "está" if you refer to the physical amount of pieces of art being exhibited, but if you take it as the act of the artist showing their work, then we use "es".
- El taller es en el edificio nuevo. -> "Taller" may refer to a learning activity, but if it means the place where something can be repaired, then you say "está".

Side note: if you're talking about a city, saying "dentro de" is rather unusual, unless you want to emphasize that the place is completely "engulfed" in the city. We prefer "en" most of the time.

- El colegio está en Reno.
- Los mejores teatros están en la Ciudad de México. -> We don't need to say they're inside the city, because that's already well understood.
- El parque está dentro de la ciudad. -> We emphasize it's not in the outskirts of the city.

Right, "La clase es dentro del colegio" is right. It threw me off the missing "l"... ;-)

La clase es dentro del colegio. - That's the intention. The class moves every semester.

So it's "es" because it's an activity, and the article for "del" (de + el) shouldn't be forgotten.
