Questions about Vos and some anarchisms

I'm taking spanish 3 in the US right now, and I keep hearing about Vos being used instead of tú in some countries, or it being used as an entirely separate thing than tú. (Tú - Superior to Inferior, Vos - Equals, and Usted - Inferior to Superior) I remember vos being archaic for tú, as it normally only exists inside of the word vosotros, (vos otros "you others, similar to nos otros "we others") and occasionally I see sumercé replacing usted and susmercés/susmercedes replacing ustedes which I'm guessing comes from su (vuestra) merced, but it doesn't seem to change conjugations. I'm wondering if I'll be understood with all the different conjugations for vos I've heard. I'd also like to know if there are more irregular verb changes with vos, like ser - sos etc.

This is what I've heard.

Perder

tú pierdes
vos perdés
vos pierdes
vos perdéi
vos perdéis

Venir (Imperative)
Ven tú
vení vos
ven vos
venid vos

Anything anyone wants to add or correct here is fine by me. ^^

Re: Questions about Vos and some anarchisms

It sounds like you have a fairly good grasp of it Here's a quick summary of usage:

Personal PronounNumberUsage
UstedSingularFormal situations, To show respect, With most people who are older than you, and with most people who you don't know
UstedesPluralFormal situations, To show respect, With most people who are older than you, and with most people who you don't know
Tu/Vos (depending on region)SingularInormal situations, With most people who are younger than you. and with most people who you know fairly well
Vosotros/Ustedes (depending on region)PluralInormal situations, With most people who are younger than you. and with most people who you know fairly well

As far as conjugating for vos, I haven't had a lot of contact with it, but in the present tense it seems to be like the vosotros forms, but you replace the dipthong in ir/er verbs with the original vowel. In other tenses, it conjugates like tu. (I think).

Re: Questions about Vos and some anarchisms

My problem was it creates new irregular forms for irregular verbs. Ser's informal 2nd person went from Eres to Sos...I wanted to know more of the new irregular forms. ^^

OK, I'll try to look into it a bit. I didn't find much with some superficial googling.

There's some good information in that Wikipedia article. You might also want to look at this one and this one.
