Full-Time and Part-Time
I’m unsure how to translate “full-time” and “part-time" into Spanish. If any of the following are correct, are they used universally or just regionally?
Also, what would be the best word choice to use when speaking to my Mexican neighbors? I don’t want to work full-time. No quiero trabajar a tiempo completo. No quiero trabajar a jornada completa. I am a full-time employee. Soy un empleado de tiempo completo. Soy un empleado de jornada completa. Soy un empleado a tiempo completo. Soy un empleado a jornada completa. I want to work part-time. Quiero trabajar a medio tiempo. Quiero trabajar a tiempo parcial. Quiero trabajar a jornada parcial. I am a part-time employee. Soy un empleado de medio tiempo. Soy un empleado de tiempo parcial. Soy un empleado de jornada parcial. Soy un empleado a medio tiempo. Soy un empleado a tiempo parcial. Soy un empleado a jornada parcial? I appreciate any and all input. |

I'm not sure about how other regions use "jornada", "tiempo parcial" and the preposition "a", but you won't hear these words used like this in Mexico.
"Jornada" is rather used for the work manual labourers do. And for a part-time, we would most probably say "media jornada". "Tiempo parcial" is well understood, but we don't use it. Here, we normally say: No quiero trabajar tiempo completo. Soy empleado de tiempo completo. Quiero trabajar medio tiempo.
