Really is "without thinking any chapter (is so easy that) is not worth enough (of checking) and checking all"
more simple
"without checking or jumping over any chapter"

"obvio" is when something is so simple/easy to understand that do not need an explanation.
I don't know if "checking" is an english word ¿¿??

The devil is better known for being old than being the devil. (The devil's identity is not necessarily obvious)

Literally, it will mean: the devil know more with age/for being old/by experience than just for being the devil.
I think it´s a saying that means that you know more with experience.
