Creating a new section for the website - looking for feedback

I'm working on a new section for this website. It will be a "news" section where I take a news story (to start with one or two per week), and I will write a short article in Spanish covering that news story. The story in Spanish will be in one column, and then definitions for any unusual or "big" words will be listed in another column. The purpose for this will be to provide an easy way for people to practice Spanish by reading a current news story, and with the ability to easily understand the story with the accompanying vocabulary, without having to look things up in a dictionary.

So, let me know if you like the idea, and if you think it's worthwhile. If you have any other ideas about it, let me know too, since they might be easy to incorporate.

Also, what would be a good name for this section? "News" could work, but that doesn't really explain what it is and what it's purpose is. I think maybe "Daily Spanish Reading" or "Daily Reading Comprehesion" might work, but something shorter (and not so dry) would be nice too.

Anyway, what do you think?

Thumbs up New Section

David,

I love the idea. I don't read our local papers at home because they're too depressing (and too big), but I would take the time to read a couple of articles per week here. I think that's a great idea.

My husband is pretty creative. I have him working on a name for the column. I'll let you know what he comes up with.

Wow, nice idea David. I'd read it too. As for a name, I have no idea. Let's see what Brenda's husband comes up with

Ok, thanks for the feedback. I´m working on this, and many other improvements. Brenda- by any chance did your husband come up with anything spectacular?

He had to go out of town for over a week and I haven´t wanted to bother him while he´s been trying to catch up with his work. I´ll check with him and see.

That's cool. Don't put too much pressure on him, especially for the not-so-important things.

Red face

Well, I'm afraid that we have not been able to come up with anything too clever for this. What about something like:

Leyendo 101

Maybe too Americanized for all the different people using your website.

Are you still planning on doing this? I hope so. I'm looking forward to seeing it. I will also check with some of my co-workers to see if they have any suggestions.

Thanks!

I am still planning on doing this, but I've had lots of other things to do. In fact I've got a list of over a dozen things I'd like to do to improve the site, I just need to find time to do them

But this section is at the top of the list.

Springboarding off your suggestion Leyendo 101, I thought of Noticiero 101, which would go well with the fact that the actual content of what you would be reading will be the news. What do you think?

That's funny. "Noticias 101" had come to mind too but I dismissed it because we may not necessarily be reading it for the news, but reading to learn the language (verbs/vocabulary). I think either one would work.
