Incidir
John, conscious of the bad habits in life that are sometimes picked up at home, stresses this idea... Would stresses be an accurate translation of incide in this context? |

This is not a normal use of the verb "incidir", and to me it sounds plain wrong.
The speaker may well mean "to stress", as you say, although I feel they intend to say something like "to assert", "to state", "to express".
