Brilloso means bright in Latin American spanish?

Brilloso means bright in Latin American spanish?

According to Real Academia Espanola brilloso Amer, means adj. brillante (que brilla)
So brilloso means bright ?

Don't overlook that it also means shiny. Shiny and bright are not always the same thing.

You're right.

To me, "brilloso" is something that has a little gloss or luster but is not entirely bright.

Two different words.

El sol es brillante. = The sun is bright. (definitive characteristic of the sun)
El sol está brillante. = The sun seems brighter. | The sun is shiny. (observation - temporary condition)

Then don't let the same people to teach you more "Spanish". "Brilloso" regarding the sun is absurd and "estar" to describe sun's nature from a human experience is also absurd. It's something like "the sun is having sparklings", a half tongue construct.

Entiendo la acepción de otra manera. Brilloso es adjetivo Americano que significa brillante, que también se usa.
