Sé que significa darse cuenta, pero quiero saber si hay otro modo de decir la misma cosa que se usa frecuentamente. ¿Se usa, "Llegué a entender" o algo semejante en lugar de me dió cuenta?

Puedes usar el verbo notar.

Me percaté (de) que ...
Noté que ... (como ya dijo María)
Observé que ...
Advertí que ...
Percibí que ...

Cada una de estas opciones es un poco diferente, pero son muy similares.

Como ya sabes, lo más importante es no tratar de usar realizar por to realize.

Pensando en los usos de to realize, otra buena traducción para este verbo sería ocurrírsele algo a alguien:
I realized that... (It dawned on me that ...)
Se me ocurrió que ...

  • Notar.

Yo nunca sabia que darse cuenta significa comprender. Siempre pensaba que significaba llegar a entender. ¿Se puede decir, "me doy cuenta de lo que dices en lugar de Entiendo lo que dices?

Notar es lo que refiero.

En inglés debajo algunas circunstancias usamos to gather en lugar de realize Ejemplo: I gather you're not happy with your new job. Pero, to
gather es menos seguro que to realize.
¿Se puede decir agrego que no estás feliz con su nuevo trabajo?

Tengo entendido que no estás feliz en tu nuevo trabajo.
I understand you're not happy with your new job.

Se me hace que no estás feliz en tu nuevo trabajo.
I gather you're not happy with your new job.

Me parece que no estás feliz en tu nuevo trabajo.
It looks like you're not happy with your new job.

The usage of se me hace may be restricted to Mexican Spanish, I'm not sure.

Se me hace... is common Spanish in Spain and, I guess, in all Spanish speaker countries.

Probably common in your part of Spain. Not where I live. What does it mean? To realize?
