Agrio/Agria - Sour
Hi guys! I'm having an argument with my Mexican friend on the proper pronunciation of agrio. I believe the accent should be on the "i". She says the accent should be on the "a", but there is no accent on the word, so I'm disagreeing with you. I thought the rule was that when there's a double vowel, the accent is on the first vowel.
Anyone know the proper pronunciation, and if I have the rule right? Thanks, Brenda

The emphasis is on the "A".

"Agrio" is a "grave" (stressed on the next to last syllable) word. "Grio" is a syllable with a diphthong, where both vowels are pronounced together without stressing any of them.
