Mentira piadosa

Hi Jane!
Happy New Year to you too.

I checked RAE which stated mentira oficiosa, but I have never heard the term before I checked.

You can say pequeña mentira. Fue una pequeña mentira nada más.

I'm sure there are Latinos who would understand mentira blanca, but that's borrowed from English, and it would be interesting to know if that term is used on the Iberian penisula as well

I had looked at RAE too but I´m not sure oficiosa/blanca conveys my message well. I wanted another synonym.

In my opinion, "mentira piadosa" has no synonyms. You could say "mentirijilla" (you won't find it in the RAE), which is a diminutive of "mentira". "Mentirijilla" is not an important lie.

other words with similar (but not the same)
mentirijilla (irmamar), media-verdad,

Saludos
