Pero que siento
"Inclinándose para besarla le dijo algunas palabras que no alcancé a oír o que no recuerdo, pero que siento no recordar porque estoy seguro de que eran dulces y bondadosas ..."
Pueden decirme qué significa en esa frase el "siento" ?

El narrador lamenta ("siento") no poder recordar las palabras, porque él piensa ("estoy seguro") que eran palabras amables ("dulces y bondadosas"), dignas de recordarse.
