Order of a sentence

I want to say:

el característico mando jerárquico romano.

the Roman characteristic command-hierarchy or
the characteristic Roman command-hierarchy?

I'm confused now.

Thanks.

the characteristic Roman command-hierarchy is OK, although I would say the characteristic Roman army hierarchy. (In an army, the hierarchy is implicitly a command heirarchy)

En "mando jerárquico" ¿no es "jerárquico" un adjetivo? Es decir que "hierarchical command" sería más literal.

I think so too,

... el característico mando jerárquico romano.

"...the typical Roman army's hierarchical command." ?

Bueno, revísalo con calma... (o dinos lo que te lía y te ayudamos a desliarte)

There are more examples in the net, like

The army's hierarchical command structure and appointment of military 'monitors' in all civil ministries

Creo que lo voy a dejar como está :

The most damaging development was a loosening of (...) and the characteristic Roman army hierarchy.

Thanks.
