Perhaps this is another trans-atlantic variance. I have also heard,me hace
sentir mal.(it saddens me/sickens me) Do you think this is an anglicism?

In reviewing other threads, I noticed Crotalito wrote something very similar to what I just wrote.

Me pone mal / malo / mala are all acceptable to me, me pone mal sounds a bit more general, could be translated into 'I'm concerned about it'.
I'm talking only in terms of usage, communication.

Me hace sentir mal is perfectly acceptable to me, it does not sound like an anglicism, but...
It sounds a bit indirect, quite likely the listener will ask for more information (talking about oral language). It is also very general, close to the meaning of 'being concerned'

I really think this kind of connotation is hard to find in the books, so it's a great field for us to help each other!!!

This is interesting. The meaning gets a little jostled in its trip across the ocean. Your right me hace sentir mal is vague. It can mean it saddens me, but it can also mean me da asco. Tuve que coger el buque y depués me hizo sentir mal (o me puse mal). Cuando me depidieron, me hizo sentir mal.

Cool, I'll just react as a speaker, as if the sentences were uttered to me, ok?

(Exchange)

A/ Tuve que coger el buque y depués me hizo sentir mal

B/ ¿Que te hizo sentir mal? ¿De que hablas?

Al subir al barco me sentí mal

(o me puse mal)

100% acceptable, meaning I got sick

(Exchange)

Cuando me depidieron, me hizo sentir mal.

¿Que/quién te hizo sentir mal? ¿De que hablas?

Me despidieron, lo que me hizo sentirme fatal/me dejo hecho polvo

I can understand and I believe I have heard Latin Americans say Me pone mál to mean makes me feel bad or puts me in a bad mood. It's a vague expression that requires context.

Poli, it's simple, only you need to say It's or he/her/they/you make feel me bad, or it's makes feel in bad way or mood.

Ella me hizo sentime mal con su comentario.

She makes me feel bad with her commentary.

La comida me hizo sentirme mal anoche.

The food makes me feel bad last night.

If I'm a mistakes please, you correct me.
