They can be, but there is a slight difference in a figurative sense.
For instance: there if a fight against corruption/ hay(o existe) una
lucha contra la corrupción. (this indicates a general fight against corruption)
Una pelea contra corrupción is more indicative of a person's personal
fight against corruption.
La lucha contra cáncer-- science's fight or war on cancer
Una pelea contra cáncer -- a personal battle against cancer

To my knowledge feud and vendetta translates as vendeta. A personal
crusade might be una obseción personal.---there's probably a better
term.

Personal crusade: lucha/campaña/causa personal
