Problemas ayer con el sitio

¿Cómo se dice "downtime" en español? ...

Bueno, quisiera pedirles disculpas; Tomísimo estaba inaccesible durante casi todo el día de ayer por problemas con Dreamhost, donde están alojadas estas páginas. Estoy satisfecho con Dreamhost, es una compañía que ha brindado un bueno servico a un precio muy asequible, pero ayer tuvieron problemas con no sé que de su datacenter y por lo tanto fue necesario apagar todos los servidores .

Ahora parece que todo está en buen funcionamiento ya. En su blog, donde nos mantienen al tanto durante estas situaciones, su post de ayer tiene 887 comentarios. Increíble.

Creo que el inglés downtime puede tener como dos significados... downtime cuando algo simplemente no está siendo usado por cualquier motivo (pero está disponible para usar), y downtime cuando algo está averiado y no se puede utilizar.

No sé si en español existen estas dos mátices de significado. Maybe it could be tiempo de inactividad para la primera y tiempo de inaccesibilidad (hablando de alojamiento y servidores) para la segunda. What do you think? Or would it always be tiempo de inactividad?

Yo diría siempre tiempo de inactividad.
Inactividad implica que no está activo, sea porque no funciona/no está accesible/nadie quiere acceder, es lo mismo que en inglés, que se utiliza downtime para ambos casos.

Si quieres ser más preciso, puedes decir tiempo/duración/período de avería /no disponibilidad /inactividad, pero al final todos son tiempo de inactividad

No se olviden de que downtime puede significar rest en inglés.
i.e.: I took a vacation, I had some good downtime.
It's a pretty colloquial term, though.

@Felipe, sí, estoy de acuerdo que ese también es un significado de la palabra downtime, aunque no es el significado principal.
