Hola a todos, Soy Salva, encantado de saber de vosotros, amantes del Español/Inglés

Por motivos de trabajo y lúdicos (escribo un libro) me muevo todo el dia entre el Español (nativo) e Inglés (aprendido, nivel medio), principalmente escrito.

Aunque un poquito soez (cosas del guión), mi pregunta esta relacionada con una conversación en mi libro:

En España es habitual exclamar ¡Mierda! cuando algo te sale mal. ¿En Inglés-americano el equivalente sería Shit! o habría otras formas mas comunes?

... perdón por la expresión, por otro lado típica.

Hello and welcome. Your translation is probably the best one, although there are literally hundreds of alternatives. I'm not going to list them on open forum, not because I'm prudish, but because it's a family forum and could cause offence.

Yes, definitely you can say "Oh sh..!" when something goes wrong. Many English speakers come from Puritan backgrounds and words like that, though common, are a little bit more rude-sounding than the Spanish equivalent at least when used in Spain. Outside of Spain the social acceptance of such words vary from country to country.

Ladies usually replace the "i" with "oo" when they say this. Usually, it is just an expression of frustration and not directed at anyone.

@Crotalito, It's funny that you brought up the subject of "soap" because most american mothers would tell their (small) children to wash their mouth with soap when they hear them saying dirty words.
