Revenge
Revenge is a dish best served cold
A saying meaning that revenge is more effective when well planned and executed, even if it takes a long time to achieve. Immediate revenge is less enjoyable. Is there a Spanish equivalent? Thanks |

"La venganza es un plato que se come frío", literal translation of "la vengeance est un plat qui se mange froid", or "la venganza es un plato que se sirve frío", literal translation of the English version.
The phrase is reputed to come from the novel "Les Liaisons dangerouses" (1782), an epistolary novel by Pierre Chordelos de Laclos, on which the film "Dangerous Liaisons" was based, but it happens there's not such a phrase in that novel.
