Llave

This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for June 10, 2008

llave -feminine noun (la), key, wrench. Look up llave in the dictionary

Una llave extra de tu auto, guardada en tu cartera, puede prevenir mucho.
An extra car key, stored in your wallet, can prevent a lot of problems.

Entonces en esta circunstancia se puede decir "puede prevenir mucho" en ves de "puede prevenir muchos problemas".

Tienes razón, hubiera puesto prevenir muchos problemas aunque sí son muy parecidas las dos fomas.

No sabía que eras fanática de la lucha libre .

A few more uses for llave:
key (for opening a lock)
key (in a figurative sense)
wrench (BrE: spanner)
switch (as in a light switch)
faucet (knob to turn water or some other liquid on/off)
llave inglesa / llave ajustable - crescent wrench / adjustable wrench
chuck (on a drill [it holds the bit])

No soy fanática pero cuando niña mi abuelo me llevaba y yo siempre salía de ahí en llanto pensando que esos hombres horribles lastimaban a otros.

Creo que se llama "pin"
