Nuestra tierra nación

Quote:
This is part of the song which The Canary Islands had adopted as 'A national Hymn'

Would anybody interpret this text as incompatible with the islands being an integral part of Spain? i.e. Separatist sentiments?

At least they had the decency to include subtitles

Bonito himno

¡Ay, España, país de nacionalismos y naciones, reino de taifas y terruños! That's my country. Now Spain is divided into "Comunidades Autónomas", but this term is not enough for many people with a nationalist feeling, so they claim to be "naciones", too. It is said that "España es una nación de naciones". A "nación" is not only considered a country, "un país", but also a territory with some common characteristics, such as a language or a culture. Furthermore, as "Comunidades Autónomas" have their own parliament, their own laws (even their own hymn, as you've posted) and their own "Estatutos de Autonomías" they want to be considered as "nations".

Here, the "Estatuto de Autonomía de Cataluña" has written, in its preamble, that "Cataluña es una nación". The Constitutional Court has accepted this term because it's in the preamble, and that preamble has not "eficacia jurídica" (). But Catalonia is not accepted as a nation in Spain, though here everybody says "som una nació" (we are a nation).

Well here are the lyrics,

Catalunya triomfant,
tornarà a ser rica i plena.
Endarrera aquesta gent
tan ufana i tan superba.

Catalonia triumphant
Shall once again be rich and bountiful,
Drive them back, those people
So conceited and so arrogant.

Bon cop de falç,
Bon cop de falç,
Defensors de la terra!
Bon cop de falç!

A good blow with the sickle,
A good blow with the sickle,
Defenders of the land!
A good blow with the sickle!

Ara és hora, segadors.
Ara és hora d'estar alerta.
Per quan vingui un altre juny
esmolem ben bé les eines.

Now is the time, reapers,
Now is the time to be alert.
For when another June comes,
Let us sharpen our tools well.

Bon cop de falç,
Bon cop de falç,
Defensors de la terra!
Bon cop de falç!

A good blow with the sickle,
A good blow with the sickle,
Defenders of the land!
A good blow with the sickle!

Que tremoli l'enemic
en veient la nostra ensenya.
Com fem caure espigues d'or,
quan convé seguem cadenes.

Let the enemy tremble
On seeing our banner.
Just as we cut down golden stalks of wheat,
When the time is right, we shall reap chains.

Bon cop de falç,
Bon cop de falç,
Defensors de la terra!
Bon cop de falç!

A good blow with the sickle,
A good blow with the sickle,
Defenders of the land!
A good blow with the sickle!
