Tan ______ como ________
I came across the following sentence:
Aquella cara me resultaba tan extrana como a este nuevo cuerpo le parecerian los tentaculos serpentinos. I'm not sure why that "a" is there; could anyone provide an explanation & translation? |

I think the translation might be.. ( ) something like: "That face seemed just as strange to me as the serpentlike/snakelike tentacles would seem to this new body" ..

Really the letter A does not necessary to be set there in the sentence, you can use the sentence without the letter A in the same phrase, the letter A is used there as a complement in the phrase, therefore I can telling you that you do not need to use the letter A in thus phrase. Sincerely yours.

Algunos verbos requieren una preposición. Por ejemplo, parecerse:
Este chico se parece a mi hermano. En cambio, parecer no la requiere: ¿Te parece bien que haga los deberes ahora? |
