Cola
Las estadísticas indican que aquí en España 'vamos a la cola de' Europa en horas dedicadas a la asignatura de Educación Física. Especialmente en educación secundaria, queda muy por debajo de la recomendación mínima de tres clases semanales.
En España vamos a la cola de Europa: • ‘Spain is lagging behind other European countries’. Is my translation accurate? I’m not sure that I’ve properly conveyed the correct meaning of ‘cola’. Many thanks in advance.

You got the right idea.
 The expression, literally means to be at the tail or at the bottom of something. Some other proposals: - Spain is far behind other European countries. - Spain is bottom-ranked compared to other European countries. - Spain comes last regarding European standards. ...
