The 4th of July is a date on which the United States independence is celebrated, to remember the date on which this document was accepted by the Continental Congress.

What do you think? Too many "dates"?

Why not:
The 4th of July the United States celebrated his independence.That is to remember the date on which this document was accepted by the Continental Congress.

That sounds a bit stuffy.... How about: United States' independence is celebrated on the 4th of July to remember that this was the date on which (or when) this document was accepted by the Continental Congress.
