Difícil
I am finding things a little difficult:
Encuentro las cosas un poco difíciles.

Is there any situation where difícil would be correct here?

Not in this sentence, because "difícil" is working as an adjective here.
"Difícil" is invariable when it works as an adverb.


- Las matemáticas no son tan difíciles. (Refers to "matemáticas")
- Mi situación es muy difícil en este momento. (Refers to "situación")
- Resolver todas estas cosas a la vez es difícil. (Modifies "resolver")
- Encuentro difícil entender estas cosas. (Modifies "entender")
- Encuentro las cosas un poco difíciles. (Refers to "cosas")
