Did you know we call it turkey because English speakers thought they originated in Turkey. I read that in Turkey its called indu because the Turks thought it came from India. France agrees calling turkey dinde (d' inde)

I think Mexico has got it right an ungamely word for an ungamely-looking
creature.
isn't it pavo? I looked it up in the dictionary. There were more than 1 translation, but I'm more familiar with pavo.
I never really knew that well call turkey "turkey" because English speakers thought they originated in Turkey. But I knew that there was a connection between the country and the bird ^_^
oops pavo is the Spanish word for turkey. oops oops oops
or is it? is pavo the Mexican word for turkey too???

Thank you Elaina. I knew there was a Mexico specific word for pavo. Gauajalote is a perfect word for turkey.
