De mi libro. . . .

¡Hola a todoooooooooooos!

Ok, estoy leyendo el libro "El Peregrino" por Paulo Coehlo. Me ayuda mucho este libro porque estoy aprendiendo muchas palabras que no habia conocido antes. Pero aveces me encuentro con una frase o una expresión que no entienda. He puesto una foto que tomé de un párrafo y verán las frase que empieza con "clavé con fuerza. . . .". Esta frase es lo que me causa mucha frustración. Espero que alguien me pueda explicarla.

That fragment contains a "queísmo": "De repente, me acordé de que..."
Also, the last sentence sounds better if written: "se me pasó la sensación de que un idiota". We avoid to place the verb at the end.

La editorial se ha lucido.

I agree with Rusty's translation. Inflicting pain to himself, the narrator focused on something else than the shame of feeling like an idiot.

Thank you all so much! I understood what he was saying, I just didn't understand why he said it lol. It just seemed really random. But that makes sense now. I just needed your guys' three sets of eyes. Thanks everyone.
