Piel

This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for September 11, 2008

piel - feminine noun (la) - skin, leather. Look up piel in the dictionary

Se me enchina la piel cuando veo cómo haces eso.
I get goosebumps when I watch you do that.

Me parece que el verbo echinarse es un mexicanismo que no se usa mucho
en otros paises. He oido--me da escalofrios y estoy seguro se usa otras
palabras para goose bumps/goose flesh en otros paises.

I think some people say piel de gallina

Sí, echinarse sólo se usa en México. Piel de gallina, o carne de gallina, es cómo se dice goosebumps/goosepimples/gooseflesh en los demás países.

El libro Goosebumps, por R. L. Stine, se tradujo Escalofríos. También me suena lo de darle escalofríos.

The word Piel de gallina is used for the south, instead I heard the phrase Piel enchinada, I have the Piel risueña, or you've the Piel somera, sure this phrases only are natives idioms in my country above all in the are of the south.

Rusty and Poli, How you have your skin now.?
