What does "como fuera" mean?

So I have the bold phrase below and can understand that "buscarse la vida" means something like "seek out a life for themselves", but I don't get what the "como fuera" adds here.

A quién quería engañar.

The expression "buscarse la vida" is to do any kind of job to make a living.
In this paragraph, the person knows they both have to find a job somehow and he has no idea how to do it or what it will be, but it's urgent, so he's in distress.

"Como fuera" means that it doesn't matter how, but they will have to get a job as soon as they're in Chile.

This construction is an impersonal, so it's always used in third person singular:
- Tengo que salir de aquí como sea.
I must get out of here no matter what.
They decided they would be rich at any cost and they made it by scamming their friends.
That child wants to do anything he wants, no matter what.
