The hollow men
This is the title of a (or THE) T. S. Elliot poem (The Hollow Men)
Per Wikipedia, The final stanza may be the most quoted of all of Eliot's poetry; This is the way the world endsThis is the way the world endsThis is the way the world endsNot with a bang but a whimper. There must be several translations for the poem, but what is the best one you know? (I am including my question, because "the world will end not with a bang but a whimper" is already a maxim and it has more connotations and nuances that the mere words...)
