Question Why do you want to do anything about Joe?

1. ¿Por qué quieres hacer nada respecto a Pepe?

2. ¿Por qué quieres hacer algo respecto a Pepe?

3. ¿Por qué quieres hacer cualquier cosa respecto a Pepe?

What would be the best option to translate the thread title?

(I believe in Spain we can say 1, without much problem, but wouldn't be quite accepted in Latin America?)

Am I off in my perception?

Your views (or any other better option) would be greatly appreciated.

[After all, Joe (or Pepe) is a good egg, and the question is obviously answered, "because I want to help him"...]

I would choose 2. It seems more natural to me, but as you know, I'm not a native speaker. Could you use algo con repecto a Pepe?

La que le sale automáticamente a los que les he preguntado es "¿Por qué quieres hacer algo por Pepe?".

@Poli: "Con respecto a Pepe" would sound too long but alright for a Mexican.

Puede ser simplemente "respecto a...", ¿No?

Muy buena opción, suena más espontánea.
Agree on "con respecto" but it would be correct.

Gracias por tu buen análisis, Sosia.

Creo que acabaré echándole una mano a Pepe...
